books I have read in January

I've read all the books in German, therefore the German titles. The links go to amazon.com, though.

Henning Mankell: Die weiße Löwin
I think, I have read them all now. Except for the newest one. But that one is already on my birthday wish-list.
Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre: Soloalbum
Parts of Soloalbum are really good. So good, they made me laugh out loud. Other parts are just plain annoying.
Walter Moers: Die 13 1/2 Leben des Käpt'n Blaubär
Wow. How can one person come up with so many ideas? I love that book.

snow.snow.snow!

Leaving my friend's place (where I was dog-sitting) last night, I found the entire city being covered with snow. Lots of snow. It had been snowing for a few days but during the few hours I spent at her place it had doubled.
Walking back home, it felt like 3pm - not 11pm. I saw a girl with a sleigh, about 10 people giggling during a snowball fight, a family walking down the street - everyone seemed to celebrate the snow.
It was lovely. And guess what? Huge snowflakes are still dancing outside!

more weblogs

Via the Bloggies website I recently found some more weblogs I like and which I now added to my links. New year, new links (new to me, that is).
I also added some weblogs I have been reading for a while but hadn't listed here until now. And I deleted some I don't really read anymore.

cheers!

As long as there is wine there is me. Those poor horses won't get anything to eat before noon.
Shame on me!

I went to Denmark to make a snowangel

snowangel

I know it feels like New Year's was ages ago, but since this is my first entry in 2004
Happy New Year to all of you!

Ever since my friends and I decided to spend New Year's in Denmark I actually enjoy that day. No more waking up on the 31st in the worst mood of the year, no more being invited to several parties and not wanting to attend any of them. Hooray!
We rent a house there once a year and it is usually very relaxing: reading, long walks, sauna, drinking, eating and talking is basically all we do. This year, however, was a little different. Little not-even-2years-old Declan just wasn't on our schedule. Which means that a few hours after we went to bed he woke up. Doing soon-to-be-2years-old stuff: running, screaming (nobody told me kids at that age can ONLY scream!), bumping into things (like the door) which results in a heart-breaking crying etc.
He's a darling, but when I got back I felt like I really needed a vacation now and slept for 12 hours straight.
I don't see how parents can handle that every single day.
