all about Mina: The Sequel

Minas-world regrets to inform you that the proprietor is temporarily unavailable. Me, the guest, is taking this chance to post a guest entry.

The name of Mina's computer is ... (drumroll)... Mina! Mina (the computer not the person) is big and black.

Mina (the person not the computer) has seen every classic American movie, but in German. Some, like "The Breakfast Club" for example, may actually be better in German.

Mina makes a mean tomato and mozzarrella sandwich.

Mina's apartment is about five times as large as she tells you it is.

Do not spend any time with Mina unless you are prepared to smoke and drink ten times as much as you usually do. If you dont usually smoke and drink...you will.

Surrounding Mina's keyboard right now is: a glass of tea, an ashtray, candles, and two books - "Der New Yorker Bartender" and Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann.

Mina will teach you new German words such as 'kiffen' and 'Pfui Spinne!' (has to be yelled - maybe i'll make a soundfile) Look them up yourself or ask a German.

Mina will remind you to do things. She is also a slave-driver and...uh oh..here she comes!

altonale vs. home

I am staying home today! Going to the fleamarket, having coffee, other drinks and food all throughout the day and watching a movie I spent more money yesterday than I really should.
(But it was fun!)
So, I am staying home. Maybe cleaning up the balcony and watering the tomato plant. Reading a book or doing something creative.
(But the sun is shining and I can hear music outside!)
No, seriously, home is a good place to be.

about
On my balcony I have several flowers, a tomato and some herbs: basil, tarragon, parsley, sage and mint.

cinemania

Cinemania is the best documentary I have ever seen. If you haven't watched it yet you should see it as soon as possible. No, really!
The film shows the lives and obsession of five New Yorker 'cinemanics'. Their entire world is centered around movies. Movie schedules, film festivals, old movies and new movies, movie length.. Besides movies their interests are subways (how long does it take to get from movie theaterA to cinemaB?), hard to digest food (so it won't mess up ones time schedule when one watches 2 - 5 movies a day), music (soundtracks, of course) and books (do i have to mention what they are about?).
The five protagonists are wonderful individuals, the colours are fantastic, beautiful shots and Stereo Total is responsible for the theme song.

Sometimes the best you can do is change your plans and you might end up enjoying one of the best movies ever.

Another good documentary I can highly recommend is Scratch.

about
I have never been to the movies all by myself. But I hope I will do it one day.

bobbleton

If someone would have told me a year ago that I would be involved in a fansite, I am sure I would have started laughing. But some things change and here it is, alive and colourful: bobbleton.

about
GNE is the one and only mmog I have played so far. And this will most likely not change.

all about Mina

By special request I now present you an all about Mina entry.

Two rubber snails watch me from the top of my monitor while I write this.

I got my navel pierced somewhere in Dallas late one night in 1995.

The sofa in my living room used to belong to my great- grandmother.

My grandma is one of the most wonderful person I know.

Most of the time I do not remember the ending of movies or books.

about you
Your turn, dear reader!

scary but necessary

Years ago, after I went to take my first HIV test I promised myself to do this every year. Only because I think it is as important as all the other yearly checkups. Of course I always found a reason not to go, kept procrastinating or simply forgot.
So, this week I finally forced myself to go again. And it was as scary as always. Not only did it take forever (my veins are almost invisible and even after she found one it seemed like the blood simply refused to leave my body) but waiting for the results is so nerve-racking.
Everything is fine. I only hope I will keep my promise this time.

I am usually not scared to go to any doctor. Taking an HIV test and getting my wisdom teeth pulled out are exceptions to the rule.

thinking...

...while walking through Ottensen this morning:

After almost two years of procrastinating, it is *really* time to go shopping. Then again.. maybe next year.

I have never seen that many pregnant women in one day. And I was glad to overhear a conversation between a few people relaxing in the sun: "look! another one." "yea, she is pregnant, too" Oh, good! Someone else noticed as well.

When friends visit me in Hamburg they often mention that, in their opinion, a lot of beautiful people live here. I have to agree with that today.

Pink birthcontrol pills are such a cliché.

I don't miss my old apartment, but I do miss the location.

Why do spiders like to live in bathrooms?

about
When walking around I do not notice people and items but shapes and the way they overlap and intersect.

horses in love

Bojan, the horse, fell in love with Dorena, the new mare. And she seemed to like him, too. He was so busy making sure no other horse would get too close to her that I swear he looked very exhausted the other day. So cute! Unfortunately, she changed her mind. When I went riding yesterday I noticed that she now follows Bruno, the big boss. He was trying to steal her away from the first day and he obviously won that fight. Poor Bojan! He still doesn't fully understand what's going on.

about
I started horseback riding when I was six years old, quit for almost eight years inbetween and started again two years ago.
