work and drink (or the other way around)
I have been pretty busy working lately. Which is good, because one of these days I might be able to get the big black hole (bank account) back to zero. Having friends for a visit for an entire week also kept me too busy to write in here. Flo was the perfect visitor when you have to work. He stayed for 6 days showing his portfolio around Hamburg's agencies, which means he was away most of the day, got home, grabbed a beer and started watching TV. Perfect! Needless to say, I often joined him in front of the TV. By the end of the week we felt like an old married couple. Including the not having sex part you always hear about. And he totally cracked me up when I walked him to the train-station and he noticed a mother and daughter getting out of the car, looked at me and said: "You know, I am getting to that age where I'm equally interested in mothers and daughters." We walked behind the two ladies and I just couldn't stop giggling. What adorable friends I have!
Sophie only visited for one night. We ended up getting way too drunk while having the usual girl-talk. A friend of hers was celebrating her birthday at the china lounge and as far as I can recall we weren't exactly sober when we arrived and I left the party all the sudden because I just knew that one more drink would make me pass out instantly. Which, I guess, wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't had to work the next day. At the party I met some people I hadn't seen since highschool. One is now the editor of a new magazine and I think he said something about wanting to see my portfolio. But maybe I should double-check on that before I go to his office. Sophie made it back around 6am and we chatted for a little while before I got my last two hours of sleep. When I woke up I was still intoxicated and felt sick to my stomach. I made some coffee but there was no way I could drink it. Making it just belonged to the morning routine, I guess. I decided to walk to the photo-studio where I was supposed to meet my friend, I was assisting that day. Not only to get some fresh air to sober up but also to not lose my driver license. Obviously my red eyes and my weird movements made her ask: You really think you want to work today? I did and I made it through the day. Ok, I have to admit she had to stop the car twice on our way to the job because I had to throw up. I think Andrea was at least a little impressed that I didn't even think of calling in sick. But as my dad always says: If you can party, you can work as well. Thanks, dad!
That was yesterday. For today I cancelled everything in order to get some sleep, do laundry, clean the dishes (I haven't done that for over a week now and I just had some hot chocolate in a papercup) and get the rest of the work done.
But first, I will go and get some aspirin.
