blogs

I was unaware of the existence of blogs before i started playing GNE back in October 02. Now my daily breakfast changed from tea (black with more than 2% milk) and a cigarette to tea, a cigarette and reading blogs.
Having started my own just this month I still don't really know what I am doing! Therefore, I not only enjoy reading posts like Eglantine's it's also a big help. Thanks, Eggy!
Following links from blog to blog today I ended up being totally absorbed by Joshua Norton' s writing. Thanks to you, too, whoever you are.

I also came across this personality test again, inspoetica always talked about. I took it back then but just read a short summary on what my result meant. So today I read more about INFJ and I couldn't stop smiling. Isn't it lovely how this test gives me an elaborate excuse for avoiding the company of people? Instead of saying *I really don't feel like going out tonight* I can now say *I have an unusually rich inner life and that's entertaining enough -thank's for asking, though*.

I think it prudent to point out that the '10 Ways' seems to be more about keeping an online journal than a weblog. Yes, there is a difference. Weblogs are of absolutely no benefit to your soul, journals might be. :)

I think it prudent to point out that journal, weblog, all of these things are just names, and the concepts are concepts, and there's no real mapping betwixt.

We do what we do to record parts of our essence, and then we continue to try to find some small meaning in this world.

God, I miss you guys.

I think actual usage has become divorced from the original meanings; most people I know use "blog" to refer to the entire world of online journalling / linkfarming, and even toward the kind of content-free minute-by-minute recapping that seems to run rampant on LiveJournal (not to disparage LiveJournalers as a whole). So it's a catchall word, unless you want to be true to the roots :).

Anyways, that's all beside the point. I'm addicted too!

Well, I am an INFP...but I prefer personality tests such as this one myself:

:)

Incidentally, I'm an INFP (borderline on ISFP).

I am an Idealist, by this test...did you people pay the 14.95 to get the second half or am i JUST an idealist?

Well, I seem to be back in the land of INFP. Funny how it comes full circle sometimes.

Maybe I should stick to using Yogi on GNE related sites... then Kyle can shorten his sig a little...

I tried taking the test but I couldn't do it. It's too long and tries to make me answer yes or no to questions that don't have a yes or no answer. Which I did for a little while until it seemed silly to be trying.

So I am: "Sorry, there is not enough data for your type analysis", which probably places me in a known and despised category itself.

Re: Journal v. Blog I find the distinction a useful one, which is why I like to make note of it. When someone asks "Whatcha lookin' at" I can say "Blog" and be sure they know what I mean, or I can say "Journal" and be sure they know what I mean.

Oh, and I'll say it here, too:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, M!!!

Have a drink for me. Make it a strong one.

Yogi, February 22, 2003 01:21 AM

Thanks Y.!
Also, thanks to everyone for discussing blog vs. journal. Surely enough, I had no idea about journals :) There is still a lot to learn.
I pretty much used the word *blog* for all of the above mentioned forms of writing. So... what am I doing here? Would you call this a blog? journal?

It's interesting to see how well our Jung typology can correlate to how we actually are. I knew a few other people in the game that were INTP like me, but the personality characteristics associated with the character type weren't always absolute.

As for blogging, I like Plasticbag's explanation for why we do it: http://www.plasticbag.org/about/faq/what_the_hell_is_this_site_for.shtml

I call this a blog, as I call my own a blog, because the term has gotten diluted and it's a nice little word. That means everything now, as yukino has indicated.
